St. Mary's Knights Varsity beat Santa Cruz 3-2 Friday behind both the bat and the arm of Lauren Eamiguel.
Eamiguel went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for St. Mary's Knights Varsity. She singled in the first, third, and fifth innings. Eamiguel got the win for St. Mary's Knights Varsity thanks to four strikeouts. Eamiguel allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk over five innings. St. Mary's Knights Varsity staved off Santa Cruz as Santa Cruz was unable to match St. Mary's Knights Varsity down the stretch. Santa Cruz scored one run in the fourth on an RBI single by Baldenegro. Unfortunately, Santa Cruz wasn't able to take the lead back. Gil ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed three runs. The bottom of the second saw Santa Cruz take an early lead, 1-0. A single by Alerman, plating Meza started the inning off. St. Mary's Knights Varsity went up for good in the third, scoring three runs on a two-run double by Danielle Ruiz and an RBI triple by Maite Bustillos.
