St. Mary's Knights Varsity jumped out to an early lead on Bourgade Catholic and captured a 13-4 victory on Tuesday.
The game was decided quickly as St. Mary's Knights Varsity exerted its will early with eight runs in the first three innings. A bases loaded walk by Jazmine Gomez, a wild pitch, and a two-run single by Lizzy Paredes in the first inning and an RBI double by Lauren Eamiguelduring the second inning fueled St. Mary's Knights Varsity's offense early. St. Mary's Knights Varsity was led by Maite Bustillos's hitting. Bustillos went 4-5, drove in one and scored two runs. She singled in the second, third, fifth, and seventh innings. Eamiguel recorded the win for St. Mary's Knights Varsity. She allowed four runs over seven innings. She struck out three, walked five and surrendered six hits. St. Mary's Knights Varsity easily handled Bourgade Catholic pitching as six hitters combined for 16 hits, eight RBIs and nine runs scored. Gomez ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She lasted just one-third of an inning, walked three, struck out none, and allowed four runs. St. Mary's Knights Varsity added three more runs in the top of the third. The inning looked promising, as Paredes singled, bringing home Briana Erran to kick things off. That was followed up by Brianna Garcia's single, plating Paredes. St. Mary's Knights Varsity scored two runs in the sixth inning, and then followed it up with two more in the seventh. In the sixth, St. Mary's Knights Varsity scored on a two-run single by Mercedes Martinez, bringing home Paredes and Alexia Munoz. A error scored Miah Rodriguez to start the scoring in the inning.
