St. Mary's Knights Varsity jumped out to an early lead on Carl Hayden Community and captured a 15-2 victory on Thursday.
The game was decided quickly as St. Mary's Knights Varsity exerted its will early with 11 runs in the first three innings. An RBI double by Lauren Eamiguel, a groundout by Danielle Ruiz, and an RBI single by Lizzy Paredes during the first inning and an RBI single by Eamiguel, a two-run double by Ruiz, an RBI double by Briana Erran, and a groundout by Gabby Alcantar in the second inning supplied the early offense for St. Mary's Knights Varsity. Eamiguel racked up four RBIs on four hits for St. Mary's Knights Varsity. Maite Bustillos had an impressive outing against Carl Hayden Community's lineup. Carl Hayden Community managed just two hits off of Bustillos, who allowed two earned runs, walked one and struck out six during her five innings of work. L Ramirez took the loss for Carl Hayden Community. She allowed 15 runs in four innings, walked three and struck out none. St. Mary's Knights Varsity survived Carl Hayden Community's surge and put up five runs of its own in the second. St. Mary's Knights Varsity piled on two more runs in the bottom of the third. The inning looked promising, as Eamiguel singled, bringing home Brianna Garcia to kick things off. That was followed up by Erran's single, scoring Eamiguel. St. Mary's Knights Varsity added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth. A single by Mercedes Martinez ignited the offense,, bringing home Bustillos and Garcia.
