A 12-run explosion in the third inning led St. Mary's Knights Varsity to a 21-0 win in three innings over North on Monday.
St. Mary's Knights Varsity scored in the third on an RBI single by Lauren Eamiguel, a walk by Briana Erran, a two-run single by Miah Rodriguez, an error, an RBI single by Maite Bustillos, an RBI double by Brianna Garcia, a groundout by Mercedes Martinez, an RBI single by Eamiguel, an RBI double by Erran, and a two-run single by Rodriguez. Eamiguel racked up three RBIs on four hits for St. Mary's Knights Varsity. St. Mary's Knights Varsity's Bustillos kept North off the scoreboard for all three innings she was on the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up two. St. Mary's Knights Varsity easily handled North pitching as six hitters combined for 14 hits, 16 RBIs and 18 runs scored. M Penuelas was charged with the loss. She allowed 21 runs in three innings, walked six and struck out one. The game's last lead went to St. Mary's Knights Varsity thanks to a first inning rally that saw four runs cross the plate on an RBI double by Danielle Ruiz, two errors, and an RBI single by Eamiguel. St. Mary's Knights Varsity built upon its lead with five runs in the second. The inning looked promising, as Martinez singled, plating Bustillos to kick things off.
